ABOUT
HI, I'M IAN.
As a devoted husband, father, and accomplished jeweler, I am deeply passionate about the art of diamond setting—a passion that has led me on a global quest to discover and master the finest techniques and skills.
Traditionally, access to knowledge in modern diamond setting has been limited, often restricted to in-person lessons at a handful of locations worldwide, or even kept as closely-guarded secrets.
My mission is to revolutionize the accessibility of this exceptional skill and profession, empowering fellow jewelers on their path and elevating the overall quality of jewelry craftsmanship.
Embark on this journey with me, and let's explore the boundless potential of your talents.
MY STORY
My journey into the world of jewellery was anything but conventional. I didn't follow the traditional path of apprenticing after high school or joining a family business. Instead, I spent years constructing oil and gas refineries in the frigid Canadian north. A casual interest in wax carving evolved into an audacious idea: to personally set the diamond in my future fiancée's engagement ring. Surprisingly, the meticulous attention to detail I had honed during my years in construction translated seamlessly to this intricate craft, and I was instantly captivated.
Recognising that self-instruction and YouTube tutorials alone would not propel me to my goals, I left no stone unturned in my quest to delve deeper into the art of diamond setting. This journey led me to St. Petersburg, Russia, and then to Antwerp, Belgium, where I sought out the world's finest teachers. I then continued this pursuit at Graff Diamonds in London, one of the finest jewellers in the world, where I further refined my skills and was entrusted with setting many invaluable and distinguished stones, including the Meya Prosperity 2—a stunning 41.69 Carat D Flawless Type IIA diamond—an immense honour.
Today, I operate from a private studio nestled in the picturesque city of Oxford, UK, dedicating my efforts to nurturing the next generation of jewellers and making the learning process more streamlined and accessible for artisans worldwide.
